Manuel Cruz Prudencio lives with his wife Rubi  Martinez Fabian close to his father and mother on the outskirts of Oaxaca City but away from the influence of the villages where carvers and painters look over their shoulders to see what the others are doing. As young artisans they already possess the technical proficiency and the imagination to carry them through their lives. It is  important is that there work is not limited in one direction. The variety of subject matter, like that of Manuel's  father Agustin, provides a challenge to develop both carving and painting rather than repetition.  Manuel and Rubi are  the best of a new breed of professionals that relay entirely on their skills for their income.
