This work is thought of as La Union style but it is the work of Martin Santiago Cruz who is possibly the best know artisan from that village. Here are 'Los Grillo del Ritmo'. It harks back to the time he played guitar and sang with his brothers Placido and Quirino.

This piece has been created with the artesan exclusively for Oaxacaoriginal. The dancer carries a lightweight structure, often resembling a bull, which is festooned with fireworks. Once the fireworks are lit there is cause enough to dance.

This piece has been created with the artesan exclusively for Oaxacaoriginal.. 'Mono de Calenda' - Giant puppets are found at many Oaxacan street parades. They are carried with only the wearers head and legs sticking out of the costume. To confuse matters this red headed puppet is carried by a crocodile.

They are carried with only the wearers head and legs sticking out of the custume. Here, to confuse matters, the Puppet is carried by an elephant or is it a person in an elephant costume?

This work will be packed as three easily reassembled parts. The supporting leg may have to be glued into position to keep the work standing upright. Martin Melchor, with this work, has interpreted the stilt walkers seen at street festivals . Here a 'Dalmatian ' is carrying a cow head mask. The painting and clothes are made by Martin's wife Hermelinda Portega Ramirez.

This work by Alba depicts a fiesta, maybe a wedding. People  gathering together, one man with a huge white balloon and two people disguised as giants (see their head below the waist in a cut out in the dress.
