The spirit of Oaxacan woodcarvings and their spectacular painting is brought into everyday life with these easily worn bursts of colour.

In the past, we have collaborated with Manuel Criuz Prudencio, Maria Jimenz Ojeda, Margarito Melchor Fuentes, Gabino Reyes Lopez, Luis Pablo and Martin Melchor to produce new and inspired woodcarvings. Our wearables are the basis for continued collaborations with designs by Margarito Melchor and Marco Castillo Hernandez, coming soon, with more to follow.  However, we start with a snake. As one of the oldest symbols, it represents vitality and rejuvenation, wisdom and knowledge, wholeness and infinity, the joining of sky and earth, and enduring protection. And for these reasons, it has been worn throughout history.

These designs are made using a contemporary version of the ancient technique of cloisonné, small cells filled with enamel, in small numbered editions that retain their exclusivity. After being filled with enamel, the brooches are ground flat and polished, then plated in 24K gold or nickel ‘silver’.
