The mask shows a Nahual, which in Mesoamerican mythology is a powerful human, shaman, or sorcerer who possesses the spiritual ability to transform into an animal counterpart. The mask captures the moment of transition between man an beast by displaying human eyes alogside the aggressive, snarling jaw of a jaguar. Carved into the chin is an anmal representing the belief that everybody is born with an animal twin that shares their soul and destiny. Signed by Workshop Margarito Melchor Fuentes.
