Ventura Fabian Martinez

Whilst the tradition of carving and the traditions it lives from are old, Oaxacan wood carving as it is now understood, is only two generations old. Father to son, mother to daughter. In this sense Ventura Fabian is first generation wood carver. And, as a first generation wood carver his subject matter is firmly linked to the traditional roots of his way of life. If his father did not carve or carve to make an income, then Ventura's  carving is a continuation of his parents life and a life that has not changed so much.
