Luis Pablo is the only Oaxacan woodcarver that has turned away from the roots of the tradition. His first works relied on the painting of Manuel Jimenez but not its intentions. His woodcarvings turn towards Hollywood and Walt Disney as much to Oaxaca. At its best his painting is understated and immaculate. He strives for a simple perfection that would be common to industrial techniques. Luis Pablo seeks new challenges. These three small 'pots', 'vases', 'vessels' are the first to be completed and offered for sale. These pieces cannot hold water - they are low fired clay and hand painted with acrylic paint.
